 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Borno Government Bans Mining Activities


Borno State Government has banned all forms of mining activities in the state.


In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar says the ban is due to the fragile security situation in the state. 


The statement explains that government is mapping and securing the mine sites with a view to ensuring law, order and safety of lives. 


It adds that a governance protocol for the mining sector is being developed in the state with a view to sanitizing the industry.


"Government will soon issue a code of conduct and standard operating procedure for the mining value chain to guide the sector" Professor Tar says.


The Commissioner urges stakeholders in the mining sector to abide by the directive, as any violation will attract the wrath of the law.
