 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Borno Government Bans Mining Activities


Borno State Government has banned all forms of mining activities in the state.


In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar says the ban is due to the fragile security situation in the state. 


The statement explains that government is mapping and securing the mine sites with a view to ensuring law, order and safety of lives. 


It adds that a governance protocol for the mining sector is being developed in the state with a view to sanitizing the industry.


"Government will soon issue a code of conduct and standard operating procedure for the mining value chain to guide the sector" Professor Tar says.


The Commissioner urges stakeholders in the mining sector to abide by the directive, as any violation will attract the wrath of the law.
