 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses. How 11-Year-Old Girl Was R@ped, Impregnated In Imo
 
An 11-year-old girl, Chizitere Onyebuenyi on Saturday, October, 27, 2023, told The Statesman roving reporter how she was allegedly raped and impregnated by a middle-aged man.

The teenager, a native of Umunama Umuekwune community, in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, while narrating her ordeal, said the man took advantage of her twice.

The child explained, that the middle-aged man, whose name she could not remember, at the press time, sent her on an errand and directed her to take the item into his room, where he raped her.

She said, “He sent me to buy indommie noddle for him and when I returned, he told me to take it inside his room and he slept with me for the first time".

She further said, they are residing at the Number 5 Nekede old road and that the man responsible for her pregnancy has been poisoned by unknown persons.

At the time of filing this report, the victim was shy narrate more of her experiences during the incident.

This writer gathered, that mother of the teenager, who hawks fried groundnuts and her father, are aware of the present condition of their child.
