 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Niger state government says it will continue to accord special attention to the enrollment of Fulani children in schools as a deliberate plan to keep them away from engaging in all forms of societal vices towards entrenching lasting peace throughout the state.


State Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs Alh Umar Ahmed Rebe stated this when he visited members of Gulu community in Katcha Local Government Area at the start of his tour of twenty five local governments to find out the problems faced by nomads and farmers with a view to addressing them.


Alh Umar Ahmed Rebe explained that Niger state government will not fold its arms and allow the problems of digitalisation climate change and globalisation to consume their children and that is why it is doing everything possible to reposition their wards to make them responsible leaders of tomorrow.


He also spoke of plans by his ministry to embark on profiling of number of Nomads their cattle and homes in all the twenty five local government areas for effective planning and coordination.


Alh Umar Ahmed Rebe therefore advised the Fulanis not to entertain any fear as the action by Niger state government is to be executed with the best of intentions targetted at promoting peaceful coexistence between nomads farmers and all the various tribes residing in the state.


The Commissioner also assured them that Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has promised to provide them with all their basic needs if they live in peace with one another to achieve maximum results.


In his remarks the Village Head of Gulu community Malam Usman Yahaya appealed to the Niger state government for the provision of water and schools to ameliorate their hardship.


The Niger state Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs Alh Umar Ahmed Rebe also visited the Etsu Nupe Alh Yahaya Abubakar in his palace in Bida was accompanied by the former Acting National President Miyetti Allah Breeders Association of Nigeria Ah Usaini Yusuf Bosso and the Acting Chairman Niger state chapter of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Alh Abubakar Shiroro among.
