 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Zamfara Police Foils Attack On Emir

In Zamfara, Police foiled an attack by suspected bandits at the Palace of Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari in Maru local government area.

Sources in Maru town informed our reporter that the terrorist bandits attacked the palace around 8:45 pm on Tuesday 24th October, 2023 few minutes after the emir returned home from a journey, killed one and damaged vehicles with gunshots.

According to the sources from the emirate a gallant police officer on duty at the palace engaged the terrorists in a gun duel and he successfully dispersed them.

However, they (bandits) killed one Malam Ukashatu, a physically challenged (cripple) neighbor of the emir and abducted one IT officer of the emirate Hassan Sani Marafa.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Zamfara state police command ASP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident saying the Police Patrol team who swiftly responded to the distress call for reinforcement restored normalcy at the emirate and the Maru town.

Recalled that on 4th March, 2023 the terrorist bandits attacked Maru town and killed a DPO, Kazeem Raheem, one other police officer Rabiu Bagobiri, one vigilante member Shehu Chika and abducted several people from the town that is located along Gusau-Sokoto federal highway in Zamfara state.
