 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

2023: SENATE NORMALISES APPROVAL OF SUPLEMENTARY BUDGET 



The senate in an emergency sitting this Monday  has normalised the approval given last week on the  supplementary budget of 2.176 trillion naira as requested by president Bola Ahmad Tinubu. 

If we may recalled the senate last week expeditiously  considered and approved the presidential request for a supplementary appropriation to the tune of 2.176 trillion naira 

The red chamber this Monday follow the normal procedure to consider the report of the senate  committee on appropriation on the issue and confirmed its approval at a committee of supply of the senate

In his submission the chairman senate committee on appropriation senator Adeola Olamelakon said the committee sat with the leadership of the relevant committees of the senate and the benefiting Ministeries and Agencies of Government for imput on the details provisions of the bill to ensure prudence and accountability 

Based on that however, the chairman said the committee recommended the authorization of the issuance from the aggregated consolidated funds of the Federation the sum of 2.176 trillion for the ministeries and Agencies

The ministaries include the ministry of Defence, Agriculture and Food Security, Works, Housing and  the Federal Capital territory administration.

Meanwhile the agencies are the Independent National Electiral Commission INEC , office of the National security adviser, police formation and command as well as the Department of state security service

Out of the total aggregated sum of  2.176 trillion naira,  the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC will be given the sum of  18 billion naira while  1.33 trillion naira is for recurrent and none dept expenditure and 1.125 trillion naira is meant for contribution to the development fund and capital development expenditure  for the year ending 2023.

Finally senator Adeola thanks all the leadership of the senate committees and the benefiting Ministeries and Agencies for their enomouse contribution during the exercise.
