It turned out to be the little $1 billion movie that could. Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan‘s nuclear age epic and unlikely global smash, won the final award at the Golden Globes 2024, taking home the best motion picture drama in addition to awards for Nolan, composer Ludwig Goransson, and stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. It puts the film in an even stronger position as it heads into the beginning of Oscar voing this week — but it’s not the only film with a lot to celebrate.

Poor Things won two major awards, including best motion picture comedy and a best actress award for star Emma Stone. The Holdovers netted two acting wins for stars Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. And perhaps the most surprising double winner of the evening was Anatomy of a Fall, the French film that won for best foreign language film as well as best screenplay for director Justine Triet and her writing partner and husband, Arthur Harrari.

On the television side, it was a virtual sweep for three series: The Bear in comedy, Succeession in drama, and Beef in limited series. The sole exception was Elizabeth Debicki, who won a supporting actress trophy for The Crown.
