 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. Abia govt denies lifting ban on church convention

Abia State Government has reiterated that the earlier ban placed on the annual convention of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission, ACCM, in Aba, is still in place.

The annual convention of the church, which holds every January in Aba, has not been held in recent times following the leadership crisis that has engulfed the church.

Following the crisis, the state government had banned the 2024 annual convention of the church.

Special Assistant on Religious Matters to Governor Alex Otti, Apostle K.C. Wiper, in a statement, disclosed that the attention of the state government was drawn to a publication on the facebook page of the church claiming that the governor has recognised a General Overseer for the church and also approved the annual convention.

He said: “Let it be known to all and sundry that Dr. Alex Otti has neither approved the lifting of ban earlier placed on the 2024 annual convention nor endorsed anyone as General Overseer.

“It is important to state categorically that the Governor has no role in selecting leadership for the church, or any church for that matter.”
