 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.  AFCON: Cape Verde become first team to qualify for knockout rounds


Cape Verde have become the first country at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to qualify for the knockout rounds officially.


The small island country defeated Mozambique 3-0 on Friday to confirm their progress in the tournament.


Bebe opened the scoring with a cracking free-kick from over 30 yards in the 32nd minute.


Ryan Mendes and Kevin Pina added more goals in the second half to seal their win.


The result takes Cape Verde up to six points, after they beat Ghana in their opening fixture.


They are the only team in the competition to record two wins so far.
