 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. Supreme Court Affirms The Election Of Dapo Abiodun As Governor Of Ogun State

The Supreme Court has affirmed the March 18, 2023 election of Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, as Governor of Ogun state. 

Justice Tijani Abubakar who read the lead judgment of the 5-man panel of the Supreme Court, held that the appeal was unmeritorious and deserved to be dismissed.

The apex court affirmed separate judgments of the lower courts which had dismissed Adebutu's petition for being grossly incompetent and held that Parties should bear their respective costs. 

The unanimous judgment was on the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and it's candidate in the March 18, governorship election, Ladi Adebutu.

Adebutu had challenged Abiodun’s re-election on the grounds that the Electoral Act, 2022 was not adhered to, citing corrupt practices and issue of non-qualification.

INEC had declared Abiodun winner of the governorship election after polling 276,298 votes to defeat his closest rival Adebutu, who polled 262,383 votes.
