 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

The secretary of foreign affairs of America Blinken will meet with president Tinubu in Abuja

US Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Anthony Blinken will arrive in Nigeria on a one-week tour to four West Africa countries.

The U.S. is struggling to see sustained impact as it gets from Russia and China.

Countries in West Africa, especially in the Sahel region, have faced increasing problems including changes of governments in four members of ECOWAS 15.

The visit came at the same time when Abuja, the capital of Nigeria was facing security problems and mass kidnapping.

Nigeria has experienced an increase in violence in the north and central of the country where gunmen are attacking and kidnapping people for revenge.

Jihadi claiming groups such as Boko Haram and other criminal groups have killed hundreds of civilians with equivalent to more than two million people in recent years, an issue that makes the Nigerian government claiming to bring change and address Economic problems due to withdrawal of petroleum supply.

President Joe Biden of America, who is facing challenges in his resignation campaign, has promised to visit Africa last year unless he fails.

Blinken's rally could be part of a promising effort but comes as political changes have been made since his last visit to the region early in 2023.
