 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  SOLUDO COMMISSIONS MULTIPLE ROADS AND OTHER SOCIAL AMENITIES IN OKPOKO, OGBARU L.G.A.



There was jubilation galore in Okpoko and environs as the Governor of Anambra State Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo commissioned about 14. 2 Kilometers of roads and other Social Amenities in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area.


Some of the projects commissioned includes Obodo ukwu_ Owerre road, Umenweke, Ede / School road, Umuobom, Awalite/ Ojoto road and Ezembaji/ Uzii street. He also commissioned Pipe Borne water, Solar Energy and General Hospital yet to be commissioned in a month time according to the Governor.


The event witnessed the presence of key personalities including the Honourable Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly Hon . Somto Udeze, Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, House Member Representing Ogbaru Constituency 1, Hon Noble Igwe, The Chairman Ogbaru LG, Hon. Paschal Aniegbunam and the President General (PG) Okpoko, Hon. Enemuo Francis etc.


The Governor in His speech advised the residents/ traders to ensure the maintenance it the roads. He charged them to avoid shedding their goods on the tarred roads and also stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drainage channels/ gutters which constitute nuisance.


Prof. Soludo therefore promised Okpoko residents that his administration will continue to provide enabling environment to them.


The highlight of the occasion was a Solidarity song by the Okpoko women forum. They were chanting praises in support of Soludo' s administration.


In  a vote of thanks, the PG of Okpoko community Hon. Enemuo Francis thanked the Governor on behalf of Okpoko people and Ogbaru in general for his special love towards them and reassured him of their unalloyed support to APGA government.
