 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Ramadan: Governor Sule’s Aide, Man Pikin Distributes Rice To Indigent Muslims

A grassroots politician, Alhaji Ahmad Ari Maina on Sunday distributed bags of rice to over 1,000 indigent Muslims across the Nasarawa to enable them observe this year’s Ramadan with ease. 


Mr Maina popularly known as Man Pikin  distributed the rice worth millions of naira at his residence in Lafia amid the economic hardship in the country. 


The grassroots politician currently serves Governor Abdullahi Sule as the Special Assistant on Political Affairs. 


Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has directed Muslim Ummah to start searching for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 AH from Sunday.


Mr Abubakar made the call in a statement signed by Professor Sambo Janaidu, the chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, and made available to newsmen in the state on Saturday.


“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Sunday, March 10th, which is equivalent to 29th day of Sha’aban 1445 AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Ramadan 1445 AH.


“Muslim are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Ramadan 1445 AH on Sunday and report, when cited, to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan,” the statement reads.


The Sultan of Sokoto offered prayers to Allah for continued support to all Muslims in the fulfillment of their religious obligations.


Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, signifies a month-long period of fasting, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
