 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Ramadan: Governor Sule’s Aide, Man Pikin Distributes Rice To Indigent Muslims

A grassroots politician, Alhaji Ahmad Ari Maina on Sunday distributed bags of rice to over 1,000 indigent Muslims across the Nasarawa to enable them observe this year’s Ramadan with ease. 


Mr Maina popularly known as Man Pikin  distributed the rice worth millions of naira at his residence in Lafia amid the economic hardship in the country. 


The grassroots politician currently serves Governor Abdullahi Sule as the Special Assistant on Political Affairs. 


Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has directed Muslim Ummah to start searching for the crescent of Ramadan 1445 AH from Sunday.


Mr Abubakar made the call in a statement signed by Professor Sambo Janaidu, the chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, and made available to newsmen in the state on Saturday.


“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Sunday, March 10th, which is equivalent to 29th day of Sha’aban 1445 AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Ramadan 1445 AH.


“Muslim are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Ramadan 1445 AH on Sunday and report, when cited, to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan,” the statement reads.


The Sultan of Sokoto offered prayers to Allah for continued support to all Muslims in the fulfillment of their religious obligations.


Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, signifies a month-long period of fasting, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
