 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. HAWAIIAN INMATE ESCAPES JAIL ONLY TO BE FALLY STRUCK BY VEHICLE WHILE HW WAS ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE GUARDS. (PHOTO).

 Hawaiian inmate escapes jail only to be fatally struck by vehicle while he was attempting to elude guards. 


Mathew Ornellas Jr. passed away Thursday after being struck by a vehicle during a daring jail escape last Friday. 


According to officials, Ornellas scaled a razor wire fence at Kauai community correctional center. Guards began chasing him but lost sight of him when he entered a brushy area. Moments later they heard a loud sound from a nearby road and went to investigate.  They soon discovered Ornellas lying on the side of Kuhio Highway suffering from serious injuries. 


He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition until he passed away Thursday. 


Ornellas was a minimum security inmate serving time on a drug conviction. 


The driver who struck him fled the scene and is still at large. Police are asking anyone who knows the drivers identity to do the right thing and come forward with the information.


I can't help but feel sorry for him because he was only there on a light charge. I hope they find the driver. I'm sure he didn't see Ornellas, as he was eluding officers.
