  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. I took three bullets to stop Princess Anne's kidnap.


On 20 March 1974, Princess Anne was ambushed by an armed kidnapper as she travelled by car to Buckingham Palace.


The attack was thwarted by the bravery of a number of people, including her police bodyguard Inspector Jim Beaton, who was shot three times during the incident.


Ian Ball planned to abduct the young princess and hold her ransom. He was later prosecuted for Jim’s attempted murder, as well as other offences.


Five decades on, Inspector Beaton has been reflecting on that day.
