London man Dynan to rot in jail 12 years for conspiracy

London man, Stephen Dynan, 37 has been jailed for 12 years for his involvement in the conspiracy to supply five kilos of cocaine and the conspiracy to obtain a skorpion machine gun.

Met officers were able to prove through investigation that Dynan of Wolsey Crescent, Croydon, London conspired to obtain a firearm, supply cocaine, import cocaine, import cannabis, carry out a sophisticated warehouse burglary and transfer criminal property.

He pleaded guilty at the Croydon Crown Court on Friday, 8 March, 2024.

The offences committed related between March and June 2020.

The case comes as the Met continued to fight community crime and tackle the issues that matter to communities most, making London safer for those who live, work and raise a family in the capital.

According to the police, Specialist Met officers used data-led intelligence to bring Dynan to justice, gathering enough evidence to show he was using an encrypted device and was involved in a conspiracy to import and supply drugs from overseas.

The police added that this expensive and sophisticated technology was used in an attempt to conceal his criminal activities.

The Met said officers diligently analysed the messages on the encrypted device and through further investigations were able to gather strong evidence to attribute the device with the ‘Hastybasil’ handle to Dynan, saying that the messages that were sent and received by Dynan were analysed by officers and revealed discussion of large amounts of drugs being imported and moved by Encrochat.

Investigations revealed that the 37-year-old was also involved in the planning of a sophisticated burglary and plotting to falsely imprison multiple people.

Officers conducted a warrant at Dynan’s home address on Friday, 12 January 2023 where he was arrested.

Detective Inspector Driss Hayoukane who led the investigation, said he was extremely proud of his team of officers who secured the 12-year conviction of Stephen Dynan following a persistent data-led operation.

Hayoukane said Dynan was involved in these conspiracies and used an encrypted platform without considering the ripple effects of drugs and firearms on the wider society.

“He believed that using encrypted platforms would keep him out of reach of law enforcement agencies, but the contents of the device led to his downfall. We are determined to robustly deal with criminals who impact the lives of those around them so that we can improve the trust and confidence between communities and the Met,” Hayoukane stated.
