 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Protest Struck Aba as Trailer Knocks Down Abia Poly Student


Tension swamped the city of Aba as students of Abia State Polytechnic took to the streets in protest over a tragic death of a female graduating student of the institution.


The incident occurred when the student was crossing the busy Aba Owerri Road. Bystanders recount that a tricycle operator knocked her down and fled the scene before a  speeding trailer subsequently ran her over, leading to her untimely demise.


Frustrated with what they perceive as a lack of safety measures on the roads, the students decided to staged a protest on the busy Aba Owerri highway.


The protest quickly gained momentum, with students chanting slogans and calling on relevant authorities  to investigate the incident and bring the tricycle operator to justice.


Students are also urging the government to prioritize the construction of pedestrian bridges and speed bumps in accident-prone areas.
