 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses.  Father of seven arrested for allegedly abusing eight girls, one boy


A 53-year-old father of seven children, Abdullahi Imman  has been arrested for allegedly s3xually abusing eight girls and one boy between 6 to 11 years at Tayi village area in Minna, Niger state. 

Imman, who is popularly called Abba in the community, said that he lured the children into his provisions shop with biscuits and sweets.

According to him, he normally puts his fingers into their private parts until he is satisfied and promised them more sweets and biscuits if they return again.

Imman said he cannot help himself from involving in the act despite being married with seven children.

“I have been into this act since March, 2024. I cannot stop myself even though I am married with seven children. It is an act I cannot stop even though I have tried,” he confessed. 

The suspect was arrested after reports to the Police at the GRA Police Division. 

The suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Minna for further investigation while the children were taken to hospital for medical examination.
