 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. The Lagos Central Business District (CBD), has arrested and prosecuted a total of 833 vehicle drivers and 49 tricycles drivers in one year for flouting traffic rules.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Central Business Districts, Bola Lawal on Monday at a ministerial press briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre Alausa, Ikeja.

“A total of 833 vehicle drivers and 49 tricycle drivers were arrested and prosecuted accordingly for various traffic offences ranging from illegal parking, illegal U-turn, obstruction, one-way and obstruction of traffic” she said.

Lawal revealed that two CBD operatives were disciplined for extortion from motorists by outright dismissal.

She sympathized with victims of the fire outbreak at a section of the Idumota market area and assured that the government is at work and not sleeping on the incident.

“Again, I want to express my deepest sympathies to all those who have been affected by this tragedy. The government understands the pain and uncertainty that many of you are feeling right now and I want you to know that you are not alone

“The government is here to support you every step of the way as we rebuild and recover from this disaster” the special adviser stated.

“I want to assure you that the government is fully committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of our buildings in the affected area” she added.
