 2027: BENUE GOVT TELLS APPOINTEES, DECLARE NOW OR STEP ASIDE 17th December, 2025   The Benue State Government has directed all political appointees seeking to contest elective offices to formally declare their intentions and tender their resignation letters. In a statement issued from the Office of the Deputy Governor, the directive follows the surge in political activities and growing expressions of interest in elective positions across the state. According to the notice, affected appointees are required to submit written expressions of interest for their preferred offices, alongside formal resignation letters, to the Office of the Deputy Governor on or before Thursday, December 18, 2025. The submissions will be transmitted to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for further consideration and necessary action.  Age falsification: Civil servants manipulating court affidavits, NPC certificates – Abia Govt


Abia State Government has revealed that it has observed the activities of some civil and public servants who are engaging in age falsification with court affidavits.


Abia state Head of Service, Mrs Ngozi Obioma, in a statement on Thursday, said some civil and public servants also approach the National Population Commission (NPC) to obtain fake Date of Birth (DoB) certificates.


She noted with dismay that the fraudulent officials use the affidavits and NPC certificates to quote the age that suit them thereby falsifying their ages.


Mrs Obioma, who warned those indulging in such fraudulent acts to desist forthwith, said that any one caught in the act would be summarily dismissed from the Service and also prosecuted.


The state government had, in 2023, launched a verification exercise in the civil and public service aimed at strengthening the Service and also flushing out ghost workers.


It also directed civil servants in the state to upload their credentials online, on a government approved portal.
