 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. POLICE OFFICER PASSES AWAY IN THE LINE OF DUTY 18 YEARS AFTER HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY THE SAME WAY. (PHOTO).

 Arizona police officer passes away in the line of duty 18 years after his father passed away the same way.


24-year-old Josh Briese passed away Saturday morning after responding to a disturbance. As police responded, gunfire erupted striking Briese and another officer with Gila River PD. Four other people were also struck by the rounds including 23-year-old Alicen Apkaw, who also passed away as a result of her injuries. The other victims were treated for their injuries and are in stable condition.


After the deadly incident, the Gila River Indian Comunity Council suspended all dances. 


Officer Briese had been with the department for less than a year and half. He was following in the footsteps of his father who was also a law enforcement officer.


Sadly, his father Dave Briese also passed away in the line of duty. He was involved in a vehicle crash while responding to a call in November of 2006.


Our thoughts are with this family who have lost two loved ones in the service of others. We are also thinking of Alicen's family.
