 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. Man caught trading human parts for N600k in Abuja


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly trading human parts in Abuja.


Nuhu Ezra, a resident of Gosa Kipikipi village, Lugbe, was caught with a human skull and bones on July 9, 2024, at about 9:00 p.m. by operatives from the Iddo police division.


According to the police, Ezra was found with the human remains while hunting in Kuje and intended to sell them for N600,000.


The police public relations officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest and urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.


“The suspect, Nuhu Ezra, stated that he picked up the human skull and bones from the bush while hunting in Kuje. He intended to sell them for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000),” she stated.


The Commissioner of Police, FCT,  Benneth Igweh, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the source of the human parts, the intended buyer, and how long Ezra has been involved in the alleged business.


The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


This development came as a shock to residents of Abuja, who have expressed concern over the increasing cases of criminal activity in the city.


But, the police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
