Tanzania closes Nduta camp housing thousands of Burundi refugees Tanzania has closed a camp housing thousands of Burundian refugees and repatriated all but a handful, activists and the United Nations said. Burundian refugees have complained in recent months of being forcibly evicted from the Nduta camp in northwestern Tanzania, following a deal between the governments in Dar Es Salaam and Bujumbura to repatriate around 100,000 of them by June. As of late 2025, there were an estimated 142,000 Burundian refugees housed in two Tanzanian camps - Nduta and Nyarugusu, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR). I APOLOGIZE TO THE APC, BUT I REMAIN FIRM IN MY STATEMENTS- SEN. NDUME. (PHOTO).

I apologize to the APC, but I remain firm in my statements – Senator Ndume

On Tuesday, August 6, the former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, expressed his apologies to the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to consult the party prior to his public criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The representative from Bornu South in the National Assembly’s upper chamber reaffirmed his statements, asserting that“whatever I said or whatever I did was out of patriotism.”

He said, “Yesterday I was invited by the party and here I am to discuss family matters. Actually, the national chairman is not just a national chairman to me but a father.

“With what has happened which you are all aware, it is not surprising that I am invited to hear my own side and we had family discussions and I actually accepted the mistake of not talking to the party as a last point and I promised the party that all my observations as a senior member of the family should have terminated or ended with the party.

“That is something that moving forward but whatever I said or whatever I did was out of patriotism and those issues may be said strong but they are true but then I should have talked to the party as the last bus stop.”
