Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported.  Defense Lawyer for DGRE Dies in Tragic Car Crash on Douala-Yaoundé Road

Willy Likiefac, a defense lawyer representing Cameroon’s military intelligence unit, DGRE, in the highly publicized Martinez Zogo murder case, tragically passed away following a car accident. The incident took place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, as he was traveling back from Yaoundé.

Likiefac was rushed to Douala General Hospital after the accident but sadly could not survive his injuries. Three other people involved in the crash also lost their lives.

Along with Likiefac, fellow lawyer Barrister Slim Jackson Monteu Nzonteu was in the vehicle. The two had recently attended a hearing on Monday, September 9, regarding the ongoing Martinez Zogo case, which was postponed to September 30.

Likiefac was representing the state in the investigation into the death of journalist Martinez Zogo. Key figures from the DGRE, including ex-director Maxim Eko Eko and operations chief Justin Danwe, are accused of being linked to Zogo's murder.
