Jigawa State Hands Over Hadejia Wetland Game Reserve To Minister Of Environment As National Park
In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and Green Initiative, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has officially handed over the Hadejia Wetland Game Reserve to the Federal Government, designating it as a National Park.
The handover was made through the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal.
The handover ceremony, which took place at the State Government House in Dutse, was attended by the Conservator-General of the National Park Service, Dr. Ibrahim Musa Goni, who represented the Honourable Minister.
This significant milestone marks a major step forward in protecting and preserving one of Nigeria's most critical ecosystems.
The Hadejia Wetlands, renowned for their rich biodiversity and environmental importance, will now benefit from enhanced conservation efforts and resources as part of the National Park network.
The handover demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development, wildlife preservation, and eco-tourism opportunities for the people of Jigawa and beyond.
