 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Three Separatist Fighters Killed in Sop, Northwest Region


Three Ambazonia fighters lost their lives in Sop, a village in the Bui Division of Cameroon’s Northwest Region, following a confrontation with the military on September 8. 


According to reports, the military ambushed the fighters after receiving information about their location. While some fighters managed to escape, it’s believed several were injured.


Local residents described hearing intense gunfire in the area, which has become a frequent battleground in the ongoing Anglophone crisis.


 Military officials, speaking anonymously, confirmed the operation saying that they "acted based on intelligence to protect civilians. Some escaped, but we are tracking them down."


Authorities are now searching nearby villages, hoping to capture the wounded fighters before they can regroup.
