 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  WHY I APPOINTED FIRST FEMALE SSG - GOV. ALIA


The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia says his administration has confidence and trust in Benue’s women ability to deliver on any responsibility given to them.


Governor Alia made this known at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House Makurdi while swearing in the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Aber Serumun Deborah.


The governor appointed Barr. Deborah on the 10th of September, 2024.


According to him, his administration recognizes the important roles women play in society.


He added that the appointment of Barr. Aber, as the first female SSG in the state is a reflection of his government’s determination to elevate merit and diversity in leadership.


“As the first woman ever to be appointed as Secretary to the State Government in Benue State, Barr. Aber Serumun Deborah’s appointment is a testament to the confidence I and indeed this administration have in the abilities of the women of Benue.


“We recognise the important roles women play in our society and this appointment reflects our determination to elevate merit and diversity in leadership,” the governor emphasized.


He expressed confidence in the ability of the new SSG to carry out her assigned duties.


He noted that she will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective coordination of government activities, fostering collaboration across ministries and driving the policies and initiatives that will lead to the sustainable development of the state, assuring her of the full confidence of his administration.


The governor called on public servants, stakeholders and the entire people of Benue to give the new SSG and his administration the needed support to succeed, stating that the work of building the state involves collective efforts, urging all to support and collaborate with his administration in the pursuit of progress and development in the state.


Responding, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Aber Serumun Deborah, appreciated God and Governor Hyacinth Alia, for the opportunity given her to serve the State as the first female SSG.


She promised to pilot the affairs of her office with diligence and dedication in line with the administration’s blueprint, setting the foundation for a better and more prosperous Benue.
