 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  GOV. ODODO UPGRADES TER TIV OF KOGI STATE TO THIRD-CLASS CHIEF

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the upgrading of the Ter Tiv Kogi State, Chief Moses Vor, to third-class status in a move to strengthen the relationship between Kogi and Benue states.


This development was announced during a visit by stakeholders, youths, and women groups from the Tiv community to the Government House in Lokoja on Thursday.


Governor Ododo expressed appreciation for the Tiv community’s unwavering support and peaceful coexistence, acknowledging their impressive turnout during the last election in support of the All Progressives Congress. He pledged to appoint Tiv indigenes to his cabinet, fostering confidence that Kogi is home to all


The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aliyu Umar, praised the governor for granting the audience, emphasizing the Tiv people’s peaceful nature and contributions to the state’s socio-economic development. He advocated for equal opportunities for the Tiv community to participate in the state’s growth without fear or favor.


Chief Moses Vor, the Ter Tiv and Chairman Traditional Council of Tiv Kogi State, congratulated Governor Ododo on his supreme court victory and reassured him of their unwavering support.


Chief Vor commended the governor’s achievements, particularly the approval of a N72,500 minimum wage, making him the best-performing governor in the northern region.


The event culminated in the presentation of traditional Tiv attire to Governor Ododo by the Tiv people resident in Kogi State, symbolizing their appreciation and solidarity.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
