  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report. LAGOS ATTORNEY-GENERAL HOSTS NEWLY APPOINTED LAGOS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE.


 In a gesture aimed at reinforcing the collaborative efforts between the police force and the legal system in the State, the Hon. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, recently hosted the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP. Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale and his team during their courtesy visit to the Ministry of Justice at the Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja.


Speaking at the meeting, the Hon. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, emphasised the need for stronger collaboration to address security issues in the State, particularly the ever-growing menace of land grabbing which has been a general concern for both Lagos State residents and the State Government.


He reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between the police force and the legal system, highlighting the need for continual dialogue to address emerging security challenges and protect the rights of all citizens. 


“The synergy between our institutions is crucial for the delivery and quick dispensation of justice in the State. This visit signifies our collective dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that every citizen enjoys their rights under the law”, said Pedro.


The Commissioner also pledged to collaborate with the police on the development of new policies that would close legal loopholes exploited by criminals, further enhancing their ability to protect the lives of property owners while upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace and order in the State.


In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and unwavering support of the Attorney-General’s office in handling cases brought forward by the police force. 


He stated, “Our visit today is to strengthen the already existing cooperation between the police and legal officers in the State. Together, we are committed to building a safer Lagos”.


CP. Olanrewaju highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police to curb illegal land activities and assured the public that the police would intensify their operations to protect citizens’ rights and properties.

“The problem of land grabbing is a growing concern, and it is affecting the peace and security of many communities. By working closely with the Attorney-General’s office, we will ensure that offenders are not only apprehended but also prosecuted to the full extent of the law”, he reassured.


This visit is expected to bolster the continuous efforts to combat crime, foster accountability, and ensure the efficient prosecution of cases. It also highlights the continued partnership between the police force and the legal system, both of which are integral to the upholding of human rights and the enforcement of justice.


Also in attendance during the visit were the Acting Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General, MoJ, Mr. Hameed Oyenuga; DCP. Lateef Ahmed; SP. Yetunde Cardoso; SP. Benjamin Hundeyin and other Directors in the Ministry of Justice.
