 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  Saraki Turbaned as New Magaji of Agoro Compound


In a dignified ceremony, Alh. Muhammad Mustapha Muktar Saraki Agoro was officially turbaned as the new Magaji of Agoro Compound, Agbaji, Ilorin.


The event, held at Agbaji Mosque, was attended by prominent Islamic scholars, community leaders, and dignitaries.


 Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Alhaji Rareem Baba Lagbaji, in his sermon, emphasized the importance of leadership, humility, and community service.


He urged the new Magaji to lead with integrity, wisdom, and compassion, citing the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).


The newly turbaned Magaji, Alh. Muhammad expressed gratitude to the community and promised to work tirelessly for the development and well-being of Agoro Compound.


He promised to uphold the values of justice, fairness, and unity, ensuring that Agoro Compound remains a symbol of peace and harmony.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
