LASPA CLARIFIES UNAUTHORISED PARKING PERMITS, MISUSE OF AUTHORITY'S BRANDING

The attention of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has been drawn to a video circulating online showing a man identified as "Isaiah," who is seen wearing a jacket branded with the Lagos State Government and LASPA logos.

In the video, the individual is also shown holding a permit that appears to be related to setback parking.

However, according to a statement issued today by LASPA, the individual in the video is not an authorized agent of the Agency.  Additionally, the permit shown in the video is specifically issued for setback parking.

While noting that the permit is not being used for its intended purpose in the video, LASPA has categorically stated that all activities or actions suggested in the video are illegal.

Furthermore, the Agency clarified that the on-street parking scheme in Lagos is yet to commence, maintaining, however, that a pilot scheme is set to begin shortly. “No individual or agent has been issued permits to charge fees for on-street parking or to collect hourly parking charges”, it added.

The statement emphasised that only LASPA staff are permitted to wear its uniform featuring the Lagos State and LASPA logos while carrying out parking enforcement and related services.

It reads, "We encourage the public to be cautious and avoid engaging with individuals who may be posing as LASPA agents without proper authorization. Please disregard any misleading information about parking permits or charges from unauthorised sources. If you come across any suspicious activity, kindly report it to LASPA right away”.

"We remain committed to enhancing parking management in Lagos through transparent and fair measures that benefit all residents and visitors”, the statement added.

Residents and Motorists are therefore urged to contact LASPA on Phone Numbers 0700-00-5277202, 01-2275230, or 02-01-2275231, or visit its Office at 36B Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos or Website: http://www.laspa.lg.gov.ng, for further inquiries.
