MYSTERY SURROUNDS THE DEATH OF A 24-YEAR-OLD ILLINOIS LINEMAN WHO WAS ATTEMPTING TO RETURN HOME, BUT FLED THE AIRPORT MOMENTS BEFORE HIS FLIGHT. (PHOTO).

Mystery surrounds the death of a 24-year-old Illinois lineman who was attempting to return home, but fled the airport moments before his flight.

24-year-old John Combs was working as a lineman in Savannah, GA when things seemed to begin to spiral. While in Georgia, John called home from the hospital and told his father he was having problems "putting his thoughts together".

This was not at all normal. John was an outgoing young man his dad described as "not ever sounding scared in any situation".  However, John did seem very scared and isolated when he made that call.

John made a plan with his family to leave Georgia and fly back home to Rochelle, Illinois.

John booked his flight for October 4th and arrived at the Atlanta Airport. Once there, he checked his orange tool bag. The bag would make it home, however John would not.

Witnesses who were scheduled for the same flight say moments before they were scheduled to board John stood up and made a cryptic statement.

"My name is John Combs from Rochelle, Illinois. My whole life has been a lie. I'm no good at anything I do. I don't want to be a lineman anymore."

After this statement John fled the airport. 4 days later the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 196 reported John missing.

On October 8th police in Montgomery, Alabama reported that a man had lost his life after being struck by a train on October 4th. Sadly, the man was identified as John Combs.

The family is confused and searching for answers about not only on how John lost his life over 150 miles from the airport he fled, but exactly what set these tragic series of events into motion.

Our thoughts are with the Combs family.
