 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Nigerian Army Arrests Fisayo Soyombo Amid Oil Theft Investigation


The Nigerian Army has confirmed that investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo is under investigation in connection with oil theft activities. The Army, in a statement issued on Friday, clarified that Soyombo was among those arrested during a recent operation targeting illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta. 


Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that Soyombo's arrest is related to an ongoing crackdown on oil theft and pipeline vandalism, but did not confirm whether this was the same Fisayo Soyombo. The military stressed that the suspects are undergoing preliminary investigation to determine their involvement in the crimes. The Army reaffirmed its commitment to tackling oil theft and ensuring the accuracy of information circulated by the media.
