 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker. RULE OF LAW: IGP, EXPERTS LECTURE HEADS OF POLICE INVESTIGATION UNITS ON PROFESSIONALISM 


As IGP Reiterates Force’s Commitment to implementing child-friendly policing practices.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., on Monday 11th of November 2024, held a conference and workshop program with the heads of all Police Investigation units, at the Nigeria Police Resource Center, Jabi, Abuja.


The workshop aimed to enhance professionalism and standardization of criminal investigations and refine the investigative practice of every investigative detective in the Nigeria Police Force, ensuring thorough and unbiased procedures and the commitment to safeguarding the foundations of justice. In attendance was a Professor of Law, Professor Ayodele Atseluwa from the University of Lagos, who delivered a lecture on “The Child justice System in Nigeria: An Overview.” 


The IGP reiterated the unwavering commitment of the force to safeguarding the rights and well-being of children by adhering to the highest legal and global ethical standards, particularly the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Force remains dedicated to implementing child-friendly policing practices that are supportive, non-traumatic, and rights-respecting, aimed at upholding the dignity and rights of children and young people while fostering a nurturing and protective environment.


In an effort to enhance the operational framework for combating terrorism and other violent crimes in Nigeria, the head of the Nigeria Police Force's Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Unit, CP Hycenth Edozie, conducted an additional lecture focused on capacity building in the areas of money laundering and terrorism financing.


The Nigeria Police Force is committed towards refining investigative practices and adhering to high standards of child protection, and continuous training, resulting into a stronger, more competent Police Force that will lead to the realization of a just and secure society.
