 Republic of Congo holds presidential election, internet disruption reported Internet connectivity across the Republic of Congo was disrupted on Sunday as voters cast ballots in a presidential election, global internet watchdog NetBlocks said. Network data indicated a nation-scale disruption to internet access, the watchdog said on X. A similar near-total nationwide internet blackout was recorded during the country’s March 2021 presidential election, lasting about three days, according to NetBlocks. Polls opened at 6 am (0500GMT) in the country’s presidential election and will remain open until 6 pm (1700GMT). More than 2.6 million registered voters aged 18 and above are eligible to cast their ballots. THE COORDINATING MINISTER FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE, PROD. MUHAMMAD ALI PATE, HAS LAUNCHED THE NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY STRATEGIC PLAN (2024-2028) TO CREATE SAFER AND HEALTHIER WORKPLACES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. (PHOTO).

 The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has launched the National Occupational Health and Safety Strategic Plan (2024-2028) to create safer and healthier workplaces across the country. 


A statement by the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Alaba Balogun explained that the plan provides clear guidance for the Ministry and its partners to prevent and manage workplace diseases, injuries, and accidents, improving employee health and productivity. 


Prof Pate highlighted the growing need for this initiative, especially as the government encourages non-oil sectors like mining and agriculture, which present unique safety risks.


To ensure the success of the plan, the Minister represented by Permanent Secretary Daju Kachollom, called for collaboration from all Ministries, departments and agencies of government, partners, and organizations to raise N1.34 billion needed over the next five years.
