 Nonye Soludo highlights sports as a tool for youth character development Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has described sports as a powerful tool for character formation and social inclusion among youths in the society. Soludo made the assertion, yesterday, in Awka while flagging off the 2nd edition of the Nonye Soludo Volleyball Championship. The group stage of the championship will be concluded today, while the final will be decided on Saturday. She said the competition was aimed at promoting youth development, teamwork, and healthy competition through sports. She further explained that the tournament is part of efforts to positively engage young people, discover talents and encourage discipline and unity among youths in the state. “This competition will also serve as a platform for nurturing future volleyball stars.  Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman, and Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest woman, met for tea at the iconic Savoy Hotel in London to celebrate Guinness World Records Day 2024.

 The meeting brought together two remarkable record holders for a special moment of connection and celebration.


Rumeysa, a 27-year-old web developer from Turkey, stands at 215.16cm (7ft 1in), while Jyoti, a 30-year-old actor from India, measures 62.8cm (2ft 1in). Despite their stark height difference, the two bonded over shared interests like makeup, self-care, and nail art. A video of their interaction was shared on Instagram by Guinness World Records, capturing their heartfelt connection.


“Meeting Jyoti for the first time was wonderful,” Rumeysa said. “She’s the most gorgeous lady, and I’ve been waiting to meet her for a long time.” She added that their height difference made eye contact a bit challenging but did not diminish the joy of their meeting. Jyoti also expressed her happiness, saying, “I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but today, I was so happy to look up and see the world’s tallest woman.”


The meeting celebrated not only their unique records but also the power of connection despite differences. Their shared moment has inspired many around the world, highlighting how individuality can bring people together in unexpected and heartwarming ways.
