 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Abia Assembly lawmaker says Speaker not facing impeachment


The member representing Isuikwuato Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Johnson, has dismissed rumours that Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Emmanuel Emeruwa is to be impeached.


Johnson, who reacted to some social media reports about the fate of the Speaker, described the claims as unfounded lies aimed at misleading the public.


Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday, Johnson, who is a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, maintained that the claims that Emeruwa faced a potential impeachment following a purported face-off with Governor Alex Otti were baseless.


“Let it be categorically stated that there is no plan to impeach the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa,” Johnson declared.


The lawmaker further urged Abians to disregard the misinformation and focus on issues that promote unity and development in the state, even as he said that a harmonious relationship exists between the Speaker and other members.
