CLO in Enugu Accused of Assaulting Two Female NYSC Members

A Corps Liaison Officer (CLO) in Enugu East LGA, Enugu State, has been accused of assaulting two female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during a meeting on Saturday. The CLO allegedly intimidated the victims and later boasted of being “untouchable” due to his connections with NYSC officials. The incident came to light when a relative of one of the victims shared details on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that law enforcement was pressured to drop the case after officers became involved.

In response, the African Women in Public Service (AWiPS) condemned the assault and called for immediate action. AWiPS President Ugo Agwu-Nnachi demanded a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure justice for the victims, highlighting concerns over the pressure on police to abandon the case. The organization emphasized the need for systemic change within the NYSC and vowed to closely monitor the case to ensure accountability.
