CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  France Awaits New Cabinet as PM Bayrou Delays Announcement to Honor Mayotte Victims


France remains on edge as Prime Minister François Bayrou prepares to unveil his new cabinet, initially promised “before Christmas.” 


However, the announcement has been postponed until Monday evening to observe a national day of mourning for the victims of the devastating cyclone in Mayotte, France's overseas territory.


President Emmanuel Macron, who recently visited cyclone-hit Mayotte and East Africa, emphasized the significance of honoring the victims.


 Macron spoke with Bayrou twice on Sunday to finalize preparations for the cabinet announcement.


As the clock ticks closer to the deadline, all eyes are on the Prime Minister’s anticipated announcement and the political shifts it will bring.
