INDIAN SINGER/ACTOR DILJIT DOSANJH, ANNOUNCED HE WILL NO LONGER HOLD CONCERTS IN INDIA UNTIL INDIA DEVELOPS BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE FOR LIVE SHOWS. (PHOTO).

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has announced that he will no longer hold concerts in India until the country develops better infrastructure for live shows. This decision came during his concert in Chandigarh on December 14, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the current facilities. Speaking in Punjabi, Diljit said, “Here, we don’t have infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue and employment for many people. I’ll try next time to have a stage at the center so the audience can be around it. Until this happens, I won’t do shows in India, that’s for sure.”

At the Chandigarh concert, Diljit dedicated his Dil-Luminati tour to India’s chess sensation, Gukesh Dommaraju, the newly-crowned International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion. Praising Gukesh’s dedication and achievements at a young age, Diljit encouraged the audience to face challenges in life with resilience. Sharing a video on Instagram, he highlighted the importance of perseverance, adding a humorous nod to the famous dialogue from Pushpa: “Jhukega nahi” (won’t bow), modifying it to say, “Saala nahi jhukega toh kya jija jhuk jayega.”

The concert faced scrutiny from the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) prior to the event. The CCPCR had issued an advisory urging Diljit to avoid performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence, citing tracks like Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case. The advisory, issued by CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal, specifically requested him not to perform even modified versions of such songs during the event.

Diljit’s Dil-Luminati tour continues across India, with his final performance scheduled in Guwahati on December 29. Despite his decision to pause future concerts in India, the singer’s shows have been well-received, drawing large crowds and showcasing his versatility as a performer. Fans now await how Diljit will balance his international concerts while pushing for improvements in India’s live show infrastructure.
