Christmas Pilgrimage Warning: Christians Advised to Avoid Israel Amid Middle East Conflict

Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has urged Christians to avoid traveling to Israel for this year’s pilgrimage, citing ongoing conflict in the region.

Speaking during the 2024 State Christmas Carol, the governor, represented by Deputy Speaker Afiniki Dauda, described such trips as dangerous, saying it would be "equivalent to signing their death warrants."

Rev. Bulus Yohanna of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) supported the caution, suggesting alternative pilgrimage destinations such as Jordan, Turkey, or Rome.

The governor highlighted the lack of peace in Israel and called on the faithful to prioritize their safety during this festive season.

With the situation in the Middle East remaining unstable, the advice serves as a vital reminder to plan wisely and consider other spiritually significant locations.

Bago said, "Allowing pilgrims to travel there would be equivalent to signing their death warrants"

The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we will not compromise on that"
