 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. PROHIBITION OF BURNING OF TYRES ON ABIA  ROADS. 


As the New Year celebrations approach, it has become necessary to address certain practices that pose serious risks to public safety and the state’s infrastructure.


1 .The Abia state government has observed with dismay that despite repeated calls on Abians and residents to refrain from the burning of tyres as a way of celebrating the yuletide, that certain misguided individuals still engaged in this unwholesome act in certain parts of the  state during the ongoing Christmas celebrations.


2 .As a consequence the Abia State government wishes to remind members of the public that the prohibition of burning of tyres on  roads whether federal or state owned, is still in force.

3 . DAMAGE TO ROADS. The burning of tyres causes significant damage to the newly constructed and rehabilitated roads across the state. The heat and chemical residue from burnt tyres weakens the asphalt, leading to potholes and unnecessary repair costs.


4  PROTECTION OF  THE ENVIRONMENT: Tyre burning releases toxic chemicals that pollute the air, contributing to environmental degradation and posing health risks to residents. There is an urgent need  for us to protect our environment.


5 .PUBLIC SAFETY: The act of burning tyres often leads to accidents, fires, and disruptions in traffic flow, endangering the lives of citizens and road users.


6 .The  Abia State government has directed security agencies and relevant authorities to monitor compliance with this directive across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state. Individuals or groups found violating this order will face prosecution as stipulated under the law.


7 .We urge all Abia  citizens  and residents  to celebrate the New Year in a responsible and peaceful manner, embracing activities that promote safety, healthy living, communal harmony, unity and the development of our beloved state.


8 .Abians are encouraged to take ownership of our roads and public infrastructure by safeguarding them from practices that undermine the progress we have collectively achieved.


9 .Let us together usher in 2025 with gratitude, hope, and a renewed commitment to building a better Abia.
