 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Protests Erupt in Syria After Christmas Tree is Set on Fire, Sparking Tensions Over Religious Minorities


Protests erupted in Syria after a Christmas tree was set on fire in Suqaylabiyah, a Christian-majority town, just before Christmas Eve. The act, blamed on foreign fighters, angered the local Christian community. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the Islamist group that helped overthrow Assad, detained those responsible and vowed to protect minorities. In a gesture of solidarity, an HTS leader assured the crowd the tree would be repaired and even displayed a cross.


The incident led to further protests across Syria, with demonstrators in Damascus denouncing foreign fighters and expressing fears for the future of Syria’s Christian community. Many carried crosses and Syrian flags, chanting that they would not stay if they could no longer practice their faith freely. The unrest highlighted growing concerns over the treatment of religious minorities in a country still recovering from years of conflict.
