57-year-old Todd Lewis and 67-year-old Sallyman Scala are facing charges after a shocking incident that occurred back in October.
The incident took place at Lenox Elementary School in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey where Lewis serves as a teacher and Scala is a teacher's aide.
According to Pompton Lakes PD they were notified of the situation on October 31st when parents of a 9-year-old student made a report regarding the incident. The parents alleged that Lewis had placed masking tape around their child's back and head in order to tape his head to his desk. The child was then left for 40 to 50 minutes with his head taped down to the desk.
They stated Scala, who is a teacher's aide, witnessed the entire episode and did nothing to intervene.
Following a lengthy investigation Todd Lewis has been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was released pending trial but is prohibited from having contact with minors.
Sallyman Scala was charged with fourth-degree abuse and neglect of a child.
