CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  2025 UTME registration Is Yet To Start--JAMB


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry is yet to commence.


The board calmed the tension that has been boiling up by assuring prospective candidates that details of the registration process will be announced in due course.


In a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, JAMB also advised the forthcoming candidates to begin preparations by securing their National Identification Number and a unique phone number.


Candidates are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the recommended texts to enhance their preparation.


Additionally, JAMB has directed its staff to update their profiles or register afresh in preparation for the upcoming examination.
