 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE President Tinubu commends Nigeria's Armed Forces for protecting democracy in Benin Republic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the gallantry of Nigeria's military on Sunday for responding swiftly to the request by the Government of Benin Republic to save its 35-year-old democracy from coup plotters who struck at dawn today.  Despite collecting N8m to free family, gunmen abduct female member


Suspected kidnappers raided Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State in the early hours of Sunday, abducting a young woman, Zainab, after extorting ₦8 million from her family.

The assailants, numbering about 10, stormed the residence of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Auwal, in Garo Sabuwar Unguwa around 1:20 a.m.

An exclusive by Solacebase noted that three of the intruders were armed with guns, while the remaining seven carried other weapons. They reportedly forced their way into the house by breaking through a smaller door.

“They gathered the entire family in one place, instilling fear and panic,” the source said.

The attackers demanded money, prompting the head of the household to plead for his family’s safety and offer to meet their demands. He handed over ₦8 million to the gunmen.

However, despite receiving the money, the kidnappers abducted the family’s eldest daughter, a recent secondary school graduate, before escaping.

The victim’s whereabouts remain unknown, as the kidnappers have yet to contact the family.

The incident has left the community in a state of fear and uncertainty, with residents urging authorities to address the worsening insecurity in the area.

Confirming the incident, Kano Police Command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the police have launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
