Suspected kidnappers raided Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State in the early hours of Sunday, abducting a young woman, Zainab, after extorting ₦8 million from her family.

The assailants, numbering about 10, stormed the residence of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Auwal, in Garo Sabuwar Unguwa around 1:20 a.m.

However, despite receiving the money, the kidnappers abducted the family’s eldest daughter, a recent secondary school graduate, before escaping.

The victim’s whereabouts remain unknown, as the kidnappers have yet to contact the family.

The incident has left the community in a state of fear and uncertainty, with residents urging authorities to address the worsening insecurity in the area.

Confirming the incident, Kano Police Command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the police have launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
