 FUNAAB to Graduate 120 First-Class Students at 32nd Convocation


The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), will hold its 32nd convocation ceremony on Saturday, graduating 3,567 students, including 120 First-Class honors and 1,626 Second-Class Upper graduates.


During a media briefing on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde detailed the breakdown: 1,624 Second-Class Lower, 164 Third-Class, 33 Veterinary Medicine, 30 Postgraduate Diplomas, 274 Master’s degrees, and 136 PhDs.


Prof. Kehinde highlighted the university’s recent strides, including eight new academic programs such as Cyber Security and Software Engineering, bringing the total accredited programs to 38 across 54 departments.


He revealed that six research proposals worth over ₦171 million were approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) last year, with additional international grants secured by the institution’s scholars. Tetfund is currently supporting 19 academic and research projects at the university.


Addressing food insecurity, Kehinde emphasized Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and encouraged backyard farming, noting collaborations with 30 organizations yielding promising results.


He also announced the disbursement of over ₦133 million from the National Education Loans Fund to 1,300 students, with an additional 1,638 awaiting disbursement for 2025.


The convocation will feature a lecture by Mohammed Ibrahim, Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Development Fund, an exhibition of farming machinery, and the dedication of monuments to former Vice-Chancellors Prof. Olusola Oyewole and Prof. Kolawole Salako.
