 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. LASURA SEEKS COMMITMENT, COOPERATION AMONG STAFF


The General Manager of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), TPL. Animasahaun Oladimeji has charged staff to be diligent and committed to their duties in the new year.


Speaking during a special prayer session held on the first working day of the year, the General Manager called on all staff of the Agency to demonstrate unwavering commitment and cooperation in the discharge of their duties.


Animashaun said, "As we begin a new year, I urge you all to be diligent and committed to your duties, Let us work together to make LASURA a model Agency in the state, delivering excellent services to the people of Lagos."


He also encouraged the staff to be innovative and proactive in their approach to work, seeking ways to improve processes and deliver better results by striving for excellence and developing specialized skills in their respective fields. 


“By doing so, they will not only enhance their current performance but also position themselves for future career advancement and success”, the LASURA Boss added.


The prayer session attended by all staff, marked the beginning of a new year of service and dedication to the people of Lagos State.
