 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported.  Niger NUT Appoints Jaafar Ahmed as Chairman of BOT for Teachers’ Security Scheme


The Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has confirmed the appointment of Mallam Jaafar Ahmed as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) for the Teachers’ Social Security Scheme, known as End-Well.


According to a statement by the Union’s Senior Assistant Secretary General, Comrade Musa Kuta Umaru, the appointment is for an initial term of three years, effective from January this year.


While congratulating Ahmed on his new role, Umaru urged him to leverage his extensive experience to propel the Teachers’ End-Well Scheme to new heights.


“We encourage the appointee to view this role as a testament to his capacity and competence to build on the scheme's achievements and strengthen the bond of trust between the Union and its members,” Umaru said.


The Union further assured Ahmed of the full support of the state wing Executive in carrying out his duties.


In his response, Ahmed expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to uphold the trust placed in him. He vowed to execute his responsibilities with dedication and in strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing the Teachers’ End-Well Scheme.
