 Multiple Levies : Drivers' President Warns Illegal Revenue Collectors After Appointment As PNAI Co-ordinator  By Juliana Nwachukwu The National President, Heavy Duty Truck Drivers' Association, comrade Uche Rogers Nebuwa, has warned that the association will not tolerate imposition of multiple levies by illegal revenue collectors on the highways nationwide this year. Sounding the note of warning shortly after his appointment as Mobile Volunteered Membership Emblems co-ordinator and taskforce member of Policing Nigeria Awareness Initiative, (PNAI), he reiterated the resolve of the drivers and PNAI to work in partnership to sack all illegal revenue collectors on the highways.  Niger NUT Appoints Jaafar Ahmed as Chairman of BOT for Teachers’ Security Scheme


The Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has confirmed the appointment of Mallam Jaafar Ahmed as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) for the Teachers’ Social Security Scheme, known as End-Well.


According to a statement by the Union’s Senior Assistant Secretary General, Comrade Musa Kuta Umaru, the appointment is for an initial term of three years, effective from January this year.


While congratulating Ahmed on his new role, Umaru urged him to leverage his extensive experience to propel the Teachers’ End-Well Scheme to new heights.


“We encourage the appointee to view this role as a testament to his capacity and competence to build on the scheme's achievements and strengthen the bond of trust between the Union and its members,” Umaru said.


The Union further assured Ahmed of the full support of the state wing Executive in carrying out his duties.


In his response, Ahmed expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to uphold the trust placed in him. He vowed to execute his responsibilities with dedication and in strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing the Teachers’ End-Well Scheme.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
