 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. UPDATE: THE BODY OF THE TEEN WHO DOVE INTO THE WATER TO RESCUE HIS BROTHER HAS BEEN RECOVERED. (PHOTO).

 Update- The body of the teen who dove into the water to rescue his brother has been recovered.... however, his brother's remains have still not been found. 


Andruw and Wesley Cornett were duck hunting at the Afterbay in Butte County, California on December 14th when their kayak overturned. After not being able to locate Wesley, Andruw called 911 before diving into the waters to search for him brother.  By the time first responders arrived their was no sign of either brother, sparking an extensive search effort.


On December 17th, it was announced that officials had switched priorities from rescue to recovery. Sadly, the body of 19-year-old Andruw was recovered on December 31st. He is pictured below on the right.


A sharp-eyed BSCO spotted Andruw's remains while flying in the area on the north side of the Afterbay around 9:30 a.m. Search and rescue crews immediately descended on the area and were able to recover the remains of this heroic older brother. Sadly, there is still no sign of Wesley, whom Andruw had initially entered the water to rescue.


Our thoughts are with their family as they cope with the loss of these two young men while moving ahead in this new year.
