 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state. UPDATE: THE BODY OF THE TEEN WHO DOVE INTO THE WATER TO RESCUE HIS BROTHER HAS BEEN RECOVERED. (PHOTO).

 Update- The body of the teen who dove into the water to rescue his brother has been recovered.... however, his brother's remains have still not been found. 


Andruw and Wesley Cornett were duck hunting at the Afterbay in Butte County, California on December 14th when their kayak overturned. After not being able to locate Wesley, Andruw called 911 before diving into the waters to search for him brother.  By the time first responders arrived their was no sign of either brother, sparking an extensive search effort.


On December 17th, it was announced that officials had switched priorities from rescue to recovery. Sadly, the body of 19-year-old Andruw was recovered on December 31st. He is pictured below on the right.


A sharp-eyed BSCO spotted Andruw's remains while flying in the area on the north side of the Afterbay around 9:30 a.m. Search and rescue crews immediately descended on the area and were able to recover the remains of this heroic older brother. Sadly, there is still no sign of Wesley, whom Andruw had initially entered the water to rescue.


Our thoughts are with their family as they cope with the loss of these two young men while moving ahead in this new year.
