 No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

CRIME PREVENTION: IGP RECEIVES Ag. CG NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICES, ASSURES COLLABORATION FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.


As IGP Enjoins Police Officers towards Integrity, Transparency. 


The Inspector-General of Police IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, today February 14 2025, received the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS), Sylvester Nwakuche Ndidi, and other senior officers of the NCS, at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting centered around enhancing cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the NCS, with a focus on efficient crime prevention and strengthening the entire Nigerian Criminal Justice System.


The Acting CG also elaborated on the NCS's ongoing rehabilitation and reformation processes, which aims to transform correctional facilities into centers of rehabilitation rather than mere confinement. Additionally, he mentioned the NCS's initiative to develop an updated criminal database to ensure a comprehensive record of offenders and their respective offenses, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the correctional system. The IGP reinforced the shared vision of both agencies to ensure the overall effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System, and pledged the commitment of the Force to working closely with the NCS towards achieving shared goals. 


In another development, the Inspector-General of Police also received a courtesy visit from senior officers of the ASP Course 22/2005 who clocked 20 years in service, at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja. The IGP during the visit, congratulated the officers on their journey so far and encouraged the officers who serve as role models, to always show commitment to upholding the rule-of-law, integrity, accountability, transparency and justice, which forms the core values of policing. 


The Nigeria Police Force reassures its obligation towards justice and expresses its optimism that high values, professionalism and collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Correctional Service and other relevant agencies will result to meaningful reforms and improved outcomes for the criminal justice system in Nigeria, and the country as a whole.
